Alive Community Outreach is a faith-based 501(c)(3) with a mission to cultivate a community of nonviolence through relationships and education. We support families impacted by homicide and partner with schools to train high school students as peacemakers, building a culture of peace through violence prevention, restorative intervention, and survivor support. Rooted in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s philosophy of nonviolence, we maintain that violence is ultimately a symptom of deeper issues that must be addressed in order to bring about lasting change.
Now more than ever we must equip our next generation with skills to navigate conflicts peacefully and a framework for transforming the underlying conditions that continue to produce chaos and trauma.
Together, we can be the peace our world needs.
Blessed are the Peacemakers!
Peacemakers in all five FWCS high schools are leading the way in building a beloved community, cultivating peace, and inspiring their schools to become places of compassion, understanding, and hope for the future.
Join the Peace Family!
The Peace Family is our cherished community of dedicated volunteers, originally inspired by our beloved Peace Grannies and Grampies—a group of retirees who have generously devoted their time and energy to support our high school programs. We are excited to expand the Peace Family to include individuals of all ages who are passionate about fostering peace and nonviolence in our schools. Additionally, we are inviting local businesses to join this movement, reinforcing our collective impact. The Peace Family also consists of a learning community that meets every other week to learn about nonviolence and various issues related to peace and justice. Whether you’re a retiree, a working professional, or a local business owner, you can make a difference. For more info, please send us a message by clicking below and we’ll get back with you.
“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate...Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
